Duties:
One Permanent full-time position available immediately in an established farming operation. Seasonal overtime hours as needed, including weekends and outside of standard business hours may be required.
Job Description:
Check Agricultural equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications
Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
Service attachments and working tools such as harvesting and tillage equipment, blades, ploughs, winches and side booms
May attach components and adjust new farm equipment.
Perform updates, pre-season delivery inspections, and pre-season inspections
Complete work orders and enter technician notes into computer
Repair, overhaul and maintain agricultural equipment including tractors, tillage equipment, seeding equipment and harvesting equipment
Service and repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and the electrical and electronic systems of agricultural equipment,
Pinpoint problems by discussing equipment operation with owners, visually checking and Listening to machinery in operation, and using testing equipment,
Take defective units apart and repair or replace broken, worn-out or faulty parts, reassemble, adjust, lubricate and test repaired units,
Assemble and adjust new agricultural equipment, and
Learn and apply precision farm technologies such as automated steering systems.
Build and repair equipment using MIG & TIG welding techniques
Job Requirements & Qualifications Include:
Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification an asset but not requirement
Valid Class 1 Drivers License
MIG & TIG welding experience
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Must be able to communicate in the English language
Experience working on agriculture equipment an asset
Possess problem solving skills
Work experience in a similar role an asset
mechanical ability and good eye-hand coordination,
the strength required to lift heavy machine parts,
the ability to read and understand technical information,
flexibility in working extra hours when required,
some experience in the agricultural industry,
math, communication and computer skills,
effective interpersonal skills in meeting the challenges of the workplace
