Duties: 
  • Perform general farm duties, all aspects of planting through to harvesting, seed potatoes as well as small and large grains.
  • Be able to schedule and apply herbicides and pesticides in a safe and effective manner.
  • Must be able to operate a large amount of center pivot irrigation systems and all the computer systems that are part of it.
  • Good knowledge of farm mechanics, ability to weld and fabricate and handle most on farm repairs.
  • Needs to have previous experience of potato storage systems, and how to operate them unsupervised.
  • Needs to have a good understanding of all new tractor and sprayer auto steer and mapping systems.  Be able to download into record keeping system.  RTK will be used exclusively in the operation.
  • Must be able to supervise and co-ordinate a large staff of farm workers, and train them in their appropriate job positions.
  • Supervise all aspects of the farm throughout the entire year, crop related, labor related, storage of crop and marketing as well
  • Develop work schedules and safety protocols, must fully understand all the farm food health and safety guidelines that pertain to the farming operation.
  • Thorough record keeping.
Job Description: 
  • Must have several years involvement in a potato farming operation as a manager or owner.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of a seed potato operation, able to rouge for disease and variety differences. 
  • Understand and be able to take High generation seed from mini tubers to E3 for sale into the process market.
  • English must be first language.
  • This employee will need to be able to work for the most part unsupervised, with day-to-day decisions made by them.
