Full time position available on our mixed farm.

Job Description:

Full-time / Long-term position available on a family grain farm/cattle operation in Southern Alberta. SeaJay Farms runs 120 cow/calf, 6000 acres dryland crops, grassland.  We are currently seeking a person who can help run the cow/calf operation and the grain farm operation.  Duties will be based on employee’s skills and may include: cattle feeding/handling, calving, equipment operation and maintenance, trucking/grain handling, yard/building/fence maintenance. Must be willing to work long hours during busy times like calving, seeding and harvest (including holidays, weekends and evenings). Most work is Monday – Friday, except during busy times.

Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, hold a minimum Class 5 driver’s license (no GDL) and be willing to get a Class 3 license, and demonstrate competency from past farm employment.  Should be reliable, able to work well with others and alone, and be physically fit to lift calves.  Willing to pay good wages for experience and someone who can work on their own.

Located near Milo, Alberta, with beautiful farmland and grassland with rolling hills to see.  The Village of Milo has a school, grocery store, restaurant, bar, hall, library, fitness centre, baseball diamonds, natural ice arena, curling club and is located by Lake McGregor.

Job duties:  Working with cattle, calving, tagging, branding, fencing, operating machinery, feeding cattle, haying, trucking/grain handling at seeding and harvest, rolling, harrowing, equipment maintenance, yard/building maintenance and various other duties.
