Position Overview:
Serfas Farms Ltd is seeking a Key Operator, Broad Acre to lead, build, and operate all aspects of the growing operation, with an emphasis on seeding and combining operations. This is a full-time, permanent position with immediate availability. The key responsibilities and accountabilities of the role include oversight and management of the grain growing operation including, full cycle execution of the crop, leadership amongst the farming team, and reporting of performance and results to Serfas Farms Operations Manger. This position is responsible for forming, cultivating, and managing positive working relationships internally with owners, management, support resources and team members, and externally with managers, independent agronomists, and relevant owners.
Job Description:
Specific Duties Include:
Operational Role
- Reporting directly to the managers, will direct and assist the broadacre agronomy and irrigation departments.
- Help managers in directing employees and leading work pods
- Key role is helping lead in all operations throughout the year but high emphasis in seeding and combining.
- Work with an independent agronomists to inform growing operations and planning as needed.
- Direct staff and provide hands-on support in other operational areas as needed during planning, planting and harvest seasons.
Equipment Management and Maintenance
- Maintain technical and product knowledge of all equipment on the farm.
- Work closely with Serfas Farms mechanics to ensure equipment is prepared and maintained as necessary for efficient operations.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures, as specified in company manuals and as directed in Serfas Farms employee handbook.
- Ensure compliance with all labor laws, agricultural audits, food safety regulations, and workers safety.

- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent leadership of people with the aptitude to also provide hands-on operational support
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Previous experience with large equipment is required.
- Basic Mechanics
- Class 3 or 1 Drivers License an asset.
Previous leadership experience preferred.
Other Requirements as Required
- Must be available to work full-time hours with longer hours required during busy seasons (i.e. spring seeding, fall harvest)
- Must be available to work a variety of hours and days per week. It is expected that this role will require 8–12 hour days, 5-6 days a week during busy seasons
- Serfas Farms covers a vast area, work will be spread between Turin, Vauxhall and Enchant
- Base will be any of those locations, whichever is closest to home
- Must have access to a personal vehicle to travel to and from work.
Must have access to a cellphone to be used as a primary contact method for work related communications
