Position Overview:
Serfas Farms Ltd is seeking a high energy individual to join their progressive team in potato production. This is a full-time, permanent position. Applicants are expected to be involved in all aspects of potato production including planting, growing, harvesting and storing process potatoes. An ability to efficiently, effectively and safely operate different equipment including tillage, planting, harvesting and storage equipment will be an essential part of the job.
Job Description:
Specific Duties Include:
Operational Role
- Reporting directly to the managers and ownership to assist the potato agronomy and irrigation departments.
- Operating all equipment relevant to potato production
Equipment Management and Maintenance
- Maintain technical and product knowledge of potato production equipment.
- Work closely with Serfas Farms mechanics to ensure equipment is prepared and maintained as necessary for efficient operations.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures, as specified in company manuals and as directed in Serfas Farms employee handbook.
- Ensure compliance with all labor laws, agricultural audits, food safety regulations, and workers safety.
Working Relationships
- Communicate effectively with management and team members.
- Coordinate with managers to ensure consistent standards of excellence.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a continual commitment to teamwork.
- Conduct self professionally and respectfully in the presence of the community, upholding the reputational integrity and professional image of Serfas Farms Ltd.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by ownership in a professional and efficient manner.
- Be a self-starter; take initiative, bring forward ideas, demonstrate ability to work independently as well as collaborate with other personnel and management.
- This position may be required to perform other duties and responsibilities, as necessary, as assigned by ownership and management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- English communication skills, verbal and written.

- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Previous experience with potato production is preferred.
- Mechanical and operational knowledge of different pieces of farm equipment required.
- Class 1 Drivers License an asset. We are willing to help upgrade.
- Experience in operating Irrigation equipment is an asset.
Other Requirements as Required and Relevant Information
- Must be available to work full-time hours with longer hours required during busy seasons (i.e. spring seeding, fall harvest)
- Must be available to work a variety of hours and days per week. It is expected that this role will require 8–12 hour days, 5-7 days a week during busy seasons
- Serfas Farms covers a vast area, work will be spread between Turin, Vauxhall and Enchant
- Home case will be Turin.
- Must have access to a personal vehicle to travel to and from work.
- Housing is potentially available.
- Must have access to a cellphone to be used as a primary contact method for work related communications
