Tractor Operators – New Zealand Working Holiday!
Explore New Zealand and move between regions while working as an Experienced Tractor Operator with Mills Recruitment, right in the heart of NZ’s thriving agricultural industry.
Start the season making silage in Canterbury, then head to Central Otago or Marlborough for grape harvest, and later move north to Hawkes Bay for veggie harvest. As the seasons change, so can your scenery, and there are countless beautiful places to explore along the way.

Job Description:
Competitive Pay & Epic NZ Adventures! We have multiple tractor operator roles available across NZ. All offer competitive pay based on experience, so you can enjoy your season AND explore NZ (and maybe enjoy a bungee jump, skydive or jet boat along the way!).
About the Work You’ll have the opportunity to operate a wide variety of equipment, including:
- Tractors
- Telehandlers
- Tipping trailers
- Combine harvesters
And you’ll support essential seasonal tasks such as:
- Cultivation, drilling, rolling
- Raking, baling, stacking, wrapping
- Silage & hay production
- Harvest operations across mixed cropping systems

Preferred Requirements
- Minimum 1 season of tractor operating experience
- Demonstrated track record of success in a similar role within the agriculture industry
- Understanding of mixed cropping systems and farm machinery (advantageous)
- Proficiency with telehandlers, tipping trailers, and/or combines is a bonus
- Able to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Maintains a clean, organised work area
- Follows farm protocols for safe, successful crop production
- Good soil-management awareness
- Looks after machinery to a very high standard
- Great attitude, able to work hard and still have a laugh with the team
- Eligible for a New Zealand Working Holiday Visa
Preferred Qualifications
- Full International Driver’s Licence
- Certificate or Diploma in Agriculture (bonus)
- Proven experience in a similar agricultural machinery role
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Eligible for NZ Working Holiday Visa
